Dear Parents,

My name is Mrs. Maria Lugo, and your son/daughter is enrolled in my English I Honor's course. I am looking forward to an exciting year. It is my goal to provide all students with an educationally challenging, yet fun, experience in my classroom.

English I is a very demanding course. There will be homework assignments almost daily.  Your son/daughter will be given a course syllabus on the first day of class.  Please review it with them and return the bottom portion signed by both of you acknowledging your understanding of the course expectations and requirements.  Included in the syllabus, you will find a short supply list.   Students must bring these items to class on the days that we meet. 

All English I students will have access to the textbook online, and they will also be receiving a hard copy of the textbook to keep at home. Fortunately, they do not need to bring this textbook to school because I have a class set at school to use.  Please make sure that they take special care of their assigned textbook.  These books are very expensive and must be replaced by the student if they are damaged or lost at any point during  the school year.

I have extremely high expectations of all my students.  I am asking for your help to maintain those expectations by checking with your son/daughter periodically to make sure that his/her work is being done.  You may do so by checking their grades online, checking this website, and/or emailing me directly.  I am very interested in helping your child reach their maximum potential so that they continue achieving great success.  If you have any questions regarding the syllabus or the course, please feel free to contact me at mflugo@dadeschools.net .
